The Schockemöhle Sports Isabell Werth Collection — A Guide for Australian Riders
The Isabell Werth (IW) Collection from Schockemöhle Sports represents the pinnacle of the brand's bridle range, designed in collaboration with one of the most decorated dressage riders in history. With 16 Olympic medals and more World Championship titles than any rider before her, Isabell Werth has shaped modern dressage — and her collaboration with Schockemöhle Sports has produced a bridle collection that reflects everything she stands for: precision, expression, harmony and an uncompromising commitment to the horse.
As the Australian agent for Schockemöhle Sports, we've had hands-on experience fitting the IW Collection across a wide range of horses and disciplines. This guide is designed to help you understand what makes each bridle unique, choose the right fit, and care for your investment over the long term.
About the Schockemöhle Sports IW Collection
The Schockemöhle Sports Isabell Werth Collection is built around three signature bridles — the Johnny, the Satchmo, and the Bella Rose — each named after one of Isabell Werth's legendary competition horses. While they share the same philosophy of anatomical design and exceptional German craftsmanship, each bridle has its own character and suits slightly different horses and levels of competition.
What unites all three is a commitment to horse welfare through pressure-relieving design. The anatomically shaped headpiece, pre-shaped crank noseband, and softly padded D-rings are consistent across the collection, ensuring your horse can work freely and comfortably at the highest levels. These are not simply beautiful bridles — they are functional tools for performance dressage.
The Three Bridles: Johnny, Satchmo, and Bella Rose
Schockemöhle Johnny Bridle
The Johnny is the entry point to the IW Collection, and it is an exceptional bridle in its own right. The Schockemöhle Johnny bridle delivers the signature anatomical fit and round-stitched side parts, with a narrow browband featuring two rows of square crystals. Elegant and understated, it suits riders who want the IW pedigree with a refined, competition-ready appearance.
If you're stepping into the IW Collection for the first time, or you prefer a cleaner aesthetic for the arena, the Johnny is the natural starting point.
Schockemöhle Satchmo Bridle
Named after perhaps Isabell Werth's most famous partner — the Hanoverian gelding who carried her to multiple World and European Championship titles — the Schockemöhle Satchmo bridle is a step up in presence and prestige. It features a more detailed browband and refined finishing throughout, carrying a sense of occasion that resonates with serious dressage competitors.
If you're competing at affiliated levels and want your turnout to reflect the seriousness of your preparation, the Satchmo makes that statement.
Schockemöhle Bella Rose Bridle
The most striking of the three, the Schockemöhle Bella Rose is a double bridle, purpose-built for riders competing at the levels where a double bridle is required. The browband detailing and finishing reflect the grandeur of grand prix dressage, and the configuration is engineered with the same anatomical precision as the rest of the IW Collection.
If you are preparing to make the transition to a double bridle, or are already competing at Medium through to Grand Prix, the Bella Rose is the bridle the collection has been building toward.
Johnny vs Satchmo vs Bella Rose — Which Is Right for Your Horse?
| Johnny | Satchmo | Bella Rose | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Riders wanting elegant simplicity | Serious competitors wanting presence | Higher-level competitors, Grand Prix |

All three bridles share the same anatomical headpiece, pre-shaped crank noseband, and padded D-rings.
Important Sizing Note — Please Read Before Ordering
This is something we always advise our customers before purchasing any Schockemöhle Sports Isabell Werth bridle: the sizing in this range tends to run slightly smaller than standard Schockemöhle Sports bridles.
What this means in practice is that if your horse comfortably wears a Full in most bridles, we recommend carefully measuring before assuming a Full will be the right choice here. Many horses that sit comfortably in a standard VB (Cob) will find a better fit in a WB (Full) within the IW Collection.
How to Measure Your Horse for the IW Collection
Before ordering, take the following measurements:
- Poll to noseband: Measure from the centre of the poll, down the cheekpiece, to where the noseband will sit — approximately two fingers below the cheekbone
- Noseband circumference: Measure around the nose at noseband height, allowing two fingers of clearance
- Browband length: Measure across the forehead from one cheekpiece to the other
If you're unsure, please contact us before placing your order. Our team has fitted the IW Collection across a wide range of horses and we're happy to guide you to the right size with confidence. Getting the size right the first time saves time, freight costs, and frustration.

Who Is the Schockemöhle Sports IW Collection For?
The Schockemöhle Sports Isabell Werth Collection is designed for riders who are serious about both performance and presentation. If you're competing at affiliated dressage levels in Australia, preparing for a major show, or simply want the best anatomical dressage bridle available for your horse, this collection delivers on every front.
It's also worth noting that the quality of leather and hardware in this range is exceptional. These are bridles built to last many years and to improve with age and proper conditioning — a genuine long-term investment rather than a consumable piece of equipment.
The IW Collection is particularly well-suited to:
- Affiliated dressage competitors at Preparatory through to Grand Prix
- Riders transitioning to a double bridle (Bella Rose)
- Owners wanting premium German craftsmanship that supports horse welfare
- Horses that have shown sensitivity to standard bridle pressure, thanks to the anatomical headpiece and pressure-relieving design
Care and Maintenance
As with all premium leather bridles from Schockemöhle Sports, regular care will preserve both the appearance and longevity of your IW Collection bridle. We recommend:
- After every ride: Wipe down with a damp cloth to remove sweat and dirt
- Weekly: Apply a quality leather conditioner to keep the leather supple
- Storage: Use a proper bridle rack, away from heat and direct sunlight
